The government has announced an Energy Bills Support Scheme

Numerous government schemes offer free or subsidized energy saving techniques. These initiatives aim to aid vulnerable households and promote the energy efficiency in our homes. Some schemes are administered directly by your supplier. You could be eligible for the government’s schemes below.

Winter Fuel Payment scheme – If your birthday is before September 261956, you may receive between £250 and £600 to assist with heating costs. This is referred to as a “Winter Fuel Payment.” You will only receive this additional sum during the winter of 2022-23.

This is extra to any Cost of Living Payments you receive in conjunction with your benefits or tax credits. Most qualified individuals receive the Winter Fuel Payment automatically. Wales fuel support scheme: 2022 to 2023- The local government will provide eligible households with a one-time payment of £200. The funds will assist with the payment of fuel expenses. Residents of Scotland are ineligible for Cold Weather Schemes.

You may receive an annual Winter Heating Payment of £50 instead. You will receive this cash regardless of the local climate.

Warm Home Discount Scheme- Under the Warm Home Discount Scheme, you might receive a £150 discount on your power bill for the winter of 2022-2023. This is a one-time discount on your electricity payment between October 2020 and March 2023. You do not receive the money. If your supplier delivers both gas and electricity and you’re eligible, you may receive a discount on your gas payment instead. Funds must be expended or committed by March 312023, and cannot be carried forward for use in the future. However, it’s permitted for vouchers purchased and distributed to households before the conclusion of the fund to be redeemed shortly after that.
